Do you have to answer all the questions to pass the FE? | FE Exam FAQ

Do you have to answer all the questions to pass the FE Exam? It’s a common question from our students at enGENIEer. And in this series, we are answering the most frequently asked questions from students on the FE journey. So that you can feel confident and prepared to take the FE!
At first, the FE may sound intimidating. The exam consists of 110 questions, across 14-17 different subjects (depending on your discipline), that you take over 6 hours. We know that some questions will be fast, and others will take you several minutes to solve the problem.
But when you have around 3 minutes to solve each problem, you may be wondering if they all need to be answered to still pass.
So, do you need to answer all the questions to pass the FE exam? Well, no. Technically you can leave some blank and still have a chance of passing. But that’s not going to improve your chances.
Instead of asking if you need to answer all the questions, make a strategy so you can answer as many questions as possible.
Before you even go to the exam, create a strategy that will prepare you on how to tackle the questions. Here are five things you can do during the FE exam to increase your chances of passing.
Being able to attempt all the questions on your FE exam starts long before exam day. While studying, focus on learning the concepts and foundation of engineering.
For example, if you can’t find the reaction of a beam, you will not be able to draw the shear and moment diagram or find the max moment.
Don’t focus on studying only the hard questions; understand the basics first.
If you don't have the basics of engineering, you will not get the difficult or easy questions which will decrease your chances of passing your FE.

As you get ready for your eit exam, don’t focus on how many questions you should get right and instead focus on learning the material. Practice as many problems as you can. Finally, and most importantly, make sure that you are studying the concepts and problems that will be on your exam.
There is a lot of misinformation about the FE, and we have seen a lot of students stuck in the FE journey for years. No one should have to spend years studying for the FE. With the right material, you can make sure you’re always making progress and learning because that’s how you’ll pass your FE exam faster and excel in your career.
