A New Year, a New Approach to your FE Exam Prep in 2025!

As we start 2025, I want to share a personal reflection on what has been one of the most transformative chapters of my life. My hope is that these lessons inspire you as you tackle your own challenges, whether it’s preparing for the FE exam or navigating other life goals.

This past year brought a beautiful new beginning for me—welcoming our baby girl at the end of 2023. Like any new parent, I was filled with joy but also a fair share of fear. The first few months were a whirlwind: sleepless nights, no routine, no workouts, and productivity taking a serious hit. Every day was about taking it one step at a time.

Parenting, Work, and FE Exam Prep:
Finding your Balance in 2025

Juggling my new responsibilities, work, and creating new courses in 2024 was a challenge, especially since I didn’t want to miss any of my daughter’s milestones. It wasn’t easy to manage it all. When I was working, I couldn’t help but feel guilty for not spending enough time with her. When I was with her, I kept worrying that I was falling behind at work.

This year has been a journey of learning how to manage these competing priorities—and I’m still figuring it out. Along the way, I’ve discovered some valuable lessons:

  • Ask for help: It’s okay to lean on others.
  • Be flexible: Plans will change, and that’s okay.
  • Accept the situation: Not everything will go as planned, and that’s normal.
  • Celebrate small wins: Every little accomplishment matters.
  • Be present: Focus fully on the moment, whether with family or studying.
  • Make your time count: It’s not about how much time you have—it’s about how you use it.

That last lesson made a huge difference for me. Changing my mindset helped me be more present and make better use of my time, both in my personal life and in reaching my professional goals, like creating new FE exam prep resources with my Genie Prep team.

How Do These Lessons Apply to Your FE Exam Journey?

Whether you’re preparing for the FE exam 2025 or balancing other commitments, here’s how these strategies can make a difference:

Optimize your time: Look at your daily schedule and find opportunities to review FE notes or watch lectures, like during commutes or walks.

Prioritize your hardest tasks: Dedicate at least 2 uninterrupted hours daily to studying, whether early in the morning or later in the evening.

Incorporate exercise: Even 10 minutes of physical activity can boost your mental health and focus, making your FE exam preparation more effective.

Stay consistent: Small, steady efforts add up. Just 2 hours a day can quickly turn into 10, 20, or 30 hours of productive study time.

Reflections from 2024: What I’ll Hold Onto for 2025

This past year, my focus was on two major goals: finishing the Mechanical course and launching the FE Other Disciplines prep course. I accomplished one, and while I wish I could have done both, I wouldn’t trade the moments I spent with my family—watching my daughter’s first steps and hearing her first words—for anything.

As you prepare for the FE exam 2025, I encourage you to adopt these lessons: be present, use your time effectively, keep your goals in mind and embrace steady progress. You’ll achieve your goals while cherishing the moments that matter most.

Here’s to a successful and balanced 2025! You can pass your FE Exam in 2025.
