3 Steps to Simplify the FE Exam
Are you feeling like the FE Exam is complex and out of reach? The FE Exam tests your fundamental knowledge of engineering concepts. While that sounds straightforward, as you begin to find out, it requires you to learn 13 – 17 different subjects based on which exam you are taking.
And the further you’ve been out of school, the more challenging this will be. But challenging does not mean this has to be complicated. You don’t have to make this harder just because it is so significant.
That’s why I’ve created the 3S’s to simplify FE prep.
The 3S's to Simplify FE Prep
#1- Schedule
Before you begin studying, decide how long you want to prepare for your engineer in training exam; there is no right or wrong answer; it depends on your schedule.
We had students who did it in 3 months, some in 4 months, and others spread it out in 6 months. We have also created different FE study plans, you can download them here, and you can pick the timeline that works for you!
#2- Study Material
Gather all the study material you will be using to study for your exam, including books, fe prep course, or YouTube videos. When you have all your study material before you start studying, you won’t waste time searching for problems. Instead, you’re going to use that time to study and learn the material.
Keep in mind that your study material might change. For example, let’s say you purchase an FE book or a course and you start studying, but after two weeks, you feel like you’re not learning the concepts. You’re not progressing. In that case, you should re-assess your material cause you don’t want to waste your time and energy on something that will not help you achieve your goal.
Remember, studying for the FE is challenging, but don’t make it harder on yourself. Get study material that’s going make your life easier.
#3- Study Plan
After you have your timeline and all your study material, the next thing you should do is make a detailed study plan. You will need to plan out when you will be studying and which subjects you will be covering every week. This way, it will be easy for you to show up and study.
Also, remember, you want to make the whole process as easy as possible. If you plan out everything ahead, it will be easier for you to show up and study!
The FE exam is possible to pass. If you follow these steps, you’ll be on your way to successfully prepare for the FE and passing.
